  • During the sequence set inside the Dome of the Rock, Bill Maher and his guide are approached by two men who speak in Arabic and are supposedly objecting to Maher's presence. In reality, what they are saying is "We don't normally hang out here..." and "The boss only gives us five minutes..."
  • Movie Goof (factual errors): In the scene at the Holy Land amusement park, Bill Maher talks about how the story of Jesus Christ mirrors that of many other Mediterranean deities, focusing specifically on Horus, son of Osiris. In reality, the story of Horus is nothing like what Maher tells. Horus was born of Osiris and Isis, both Gods, from the resurrected body of Osiris, later killed by Set. Horus was not crucified, but became the Pharaoh of both Lower and Upper Egypt. None of the deities mentioned were born on December 25th, that date being the date of a Pagan holiday associated with Christianity centuries after Christ.
  • Originally scheduled for release in March 2008 to coincide with the Easter holiday. But the 2007 Writers Guild strike caused delays in post-production. The release date was pushed back to July 11, 2008 and finally, October 3, 2008.
