  • Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The daughter talks about how the father was looking for a message from aliens in the Dewey decimal call numbers on the books from the University of Chicago library. The University of Chicago uses Library of Congress call numbers, which begin with letters, not numbers.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): At the beginning, before Catherine drinks the champagne, she takes the bottle out of the fridge and just pops out the cork. She should first remove the wire around the cork.
  • David Auburn's play "Proof" premiered at the Manhattan Theater Club, New York City, New York, USA in May 2000, and then transferred to the Walter Kerr Theater on 24 October 2000 where it ran for 917 performances. "Proof" won the 2001 Tony Award for the Best Play, and the Pulitzer Prize in Drama the same year.
