Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Movie Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): The ancient Grecian Perseus was the son of Zeus, not Poseidon. However, Percy here isn't supposed to be the Perseus from original mythology; he was given his name in honor of Perseus. It is revealed in the books and deleted scenes from this movie that Percy's mother had named him after the original Perseus because he was the only demigod to have a happy ending (instead of a tragic death) in hopes that Percy would also have a happy ending.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): The statue of Athena in the Parthenon in Nashville is not the actual statue. The real statue is gold plated, has a different headpiece and is holding Nike not a spear.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): In the Capture the Flag scene, a warrior of the red team shears off the blue horsehair plume on Percy's helmet with his sword. However, in all of the following scenes the plume is complete again.
  • Movie Goof (factual errors): Hydras were water serpents - they didn't breathe fire.
