Movie Goof (continuity error): When Freya comes face to face with the creature in the cave, saliva from the creature's mouth drops on her cheek. On the next shot we see her face is clear. Then on the next shot the creature's saliva is on her face again.
Thomas Jane and Sean Bean were among those considered to play Kainan, before James Caviezel agreed to the part.
Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When surfacing in the Moorven's cave, Kainen can be seen lighting a torch with a flint, while he (and the torch) is still soaking wet. A wet torch cannot be lit, especially not with a flint.
This is the first film in history to feature Old Norse, the ancestor of Modern Icelandic and several other Scandinavian languages. Howard McCain used an Icelandic professor to help translate the dialogue and to teach the actors how to speak the ancient language.
