One Night with the King

This amazing biblical drama chronicles the brave and historic legend of Hadassah, a Jewish orphan with exceptional beauty who rises to become Queen Esther of Persia and saves Persian Jews from genocide. By revealing her heritage to the king, Esther thwarts the evil prime minister's plan to annihilate all Jews in the Persian Empire. The annual festival of Purim is inspired by her heroism.

Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Movie Goof (anachronisms): In one scene when the King is drinking from a goblet, there is an orange price tag on the bottom of the glass.
  • Originally scheduled for release in March 2005.
  • The book of Esther (on which this film is based) is one of two books in the Bible that does not mention God. The closest it comes is when Mordecai says to Esther, "We will pray for you." The other book is Song of Songs.
  • The film's UK DVD release was titled "Princess of Persia" (despite Esther being a queen, not a princess) in an attempt to capitalize on the unrelated film Prince of Persia, which was released three days earlier.
