An interracial aspect of the film was originally planned according to the director in an interview. However, this idea was scrapped, presumably because of similarities to screenwriter David Loughery's previous film, Lakeview Terrace.

Movie Goof (continuity error): When Lisa is laying on the bed and Sharon walks in the bedroom the security alarm panel over Sharon's right shoulder is unarmed. Yet when Sharon walks in the house she arms the security alarm.
Movie Goof (continuity error): The wife is shown wearing white platform shoes when the couple first enter their new home. When they get up to the attic, she is wearing patent leather shoes.
