When two brothers, Josh and Mike, go to a small southern town for a vacation, they find most of the residents either dead or missing. When Mike himself goes missing, Josh teams up with the local sheriff and an attractive school teacher to find him until Josh discovers that the whole town and most of it's people have been infected by a form of toxic waste, and they have all turned into toxic vampires ...

Movie Trivia/Goofs

According to writer John C. Kruize the title was changed to "Mutant" prior to release in an attempt to mimic the success of Alien.
Some DVD companies mistakenly and confusingly use poster artwork for the movie Forbidden World as the cover art for this film because that film was also released in many areas with the title "Mutant".
Writers John C. Kruize and Michael Jones originally intended the film truly scary and having atmosphere, not violence, provide most of the chills.
Movie Goof (continuity error): When Josh discovers Mike in the basement of Mrs Mape's house, the knife wound and bandage have disappeared from Mike's arm.
