Mortal Kombat 2: Annihilation Trivia
- Sylvester Stallone turn down the role for Baraka.
- The red ninja, Ermac, is played by the film's stunt co-ordinator, John Medlen.
- Dana Hee, who plays Mileena, was Kitana's stunt double in the previous film. In the game's storyline, Mileena is actually a clone of Kitana raised as her sister.
- Both Deron McBee (Motaro) and 'Lynn 'Red Williams (Jax) are former American Gladiators (1989), and they have a fight scene in this film together.
- Michael Jai White was scheduled to play as Jax, but eventually he got the lead part in Spawn instead.
- Sheeva was meant to play a larger role in the film, even to the point of early scripts having a two-on-one fight of her versus Liu Kang and Rayden. However, budget limitations meant it would be prohibitively expensive to have a long fight-scene involving her, due to the amount of prosthetics and CGI needed to portray the character's extra limbs; thusly her role was cut down to a few brief scenes and lines, and her fight-scene was hastily changed to her death-scene instead.
- Chris Casamassa was to reprise his role as Scorpion, but he was committed to do stunt work in Batman and Robin.
- James Remar apparently auditioned for Rayden. Christopher Lambert was apparently interested in reprising Rayden but was committed to Beowulf at the time.
- Although popular characters from the video games, like Mileena and Noob Saibot appear in the film, they are never mentioned by name.
- Kitana and Mileena are not twins because Mileena has blue eyes, but Kitana are brown eyes.
- Due to scheduling and $$$ various of the actors and stuntmen had to do several roles. Examples are Ray Park who did two roles (Raptor, Tarkatan) and stunt work, J.J. Perry who did two roles (Scorpion, Cyrax) and stunt work and Dennis Keiffer, John Medlen, Dana Hee, Tyrone Wiggins, Keith Cooke an Ridley Tsui who all had a credited acting part and a stunt credit.
- Though Musetta Vander and Talisa Soto play mother (Sindel) and daughter (Kitana) respectively, in the real life the actresses are only four years apart in age.
- Ray Park's first film role was as Rayden's fight double in this movie.
- Tony Jaa doubled for Robin Shou in quite a few stunt sequences.
- SPOILER: Despite the fact that Robin Shou (Liu Kang) and Talisa Soto (Kitana) reprised their roles from the first film, the roles of the other characters are portrayed by different actors. The only other actor to return was Keith Cooke (Reptile in the first film), as Sub-Zero.
