Monsters, Inc. Goofs/Mistakes
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Mike walks away after congratulating Celia (in the beginning of the film) he passes a marking in the floor. In the next shot, viewed from above, he is much nearer her than in the shot before, which can be seen by the floor markings.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): The scoreboard on the video wall sometimes shows decreased values for some monsters, for instance when Waternoose talks to Jerry and just before the first 2319.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): In the opening scene when the monster comes through the door, he closes the door most of the way, but when the instructor does a review of what the student did wrong, the door is left mostly open.
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Mike is about to put his contact lens in, the lens does not reflect in his locker mirror. His hand reflects as if it is holding nothing. This is most noticeable in the Blu-ray version.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When the CDA are called the first time in the film, there is a helicopter flying towards Monsters Inc. A Vehicle moves in front of the helicopter whilst it is still flying but the helicopter doesn't come out the other side.
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): The standard-issue energy canisters for collecting screams - as shown early in the film when Waternoose is addressing the new recruits - are clearly outweighed by the far bigger laugh-collecting canisters implemented by the end of the story, however close-up shot of both show that they are marked as having precisely the same capacity: "8400 SUV"
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Waternoose congratulates Sully on an 'impressive display' of scaring, different shaped monsters are just coming in to shot to walk past behind Sully. The shot cuts to Waternoose and then back to Sully in just a couple of seconds and the monsters behind him have gone.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Randall slithers through his door on the Scare Floor, after it's closed you see the handle is on the left side. When he emerges, the handle is on the right side.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): Before Mike leaves the scare floor with Sully after having sung the next company's production song and lost the kid, the clock says 8:50, however Mike is chased by Randolf right after. They stop at a clock which then says 11:55.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When we see Mike wake up Sulley in the beginning, we see Sulley's alarm clock on his right-hand night stand, but later when Boo jumps into Sulley's bed the alarm clock is not there.
- Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the first scene of the movie in the child's bedroom an alphabet border wraps around the room. In the border the letter J is backwards.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): In the international version of the video/DVD several instances of written English text have been replaced with universal symbols (see Alternate Versions). However on several occasions they switch back to the original appearance. For instance: The "Standby/Scare" sign in the factory, the "Contamination alert" on the video wall during the first 2319 and the joke on the video wall in the final scene.
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Mike is talking to Roz about his paper work, Mike's lip crosses through the counter at one point.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): SPOILER: At the end of the film, after Mike got his first customer when he burped out the microphone, Sulley comes to talk to Mike and the "Think Funny" banners are still there. After Celia calls Mike "Oh googly Bear" at the next shot, the banners are gone.
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): SPOILER: Towards the end of the film, when Mike and Sulley meet the CDA "number 00001", several different CDA monsters have the same number, 00112 - the same texture had been used on several models to reduce modeling time.
