Miami Vice Goofs/Mistakes
- Movie Goof (errors in geography): The topography of Colombia's northernmost peninsula known as Guajira is basically an arid desert, quite different from the jungle backdrop used to describe the smuggler's airplane. This backdrop would most likely fit the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta, where the "Santa Marta Gold" marijuana is produced.
- Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): When Crockett and Tubbs are driving to meet the chief after their confidential informant jumps in front of the truck, you can see the lights in the bottom of the Ferrari's visor used to light their faces in the car for the camera.
- Movie Goof (factual errors): The black Dodge Charger has a SRT badge on the front grill meaning it has a 6.1L V8 engine. On the side quarter panels it say 3.5, which means the car would have a V6. Also the head restraints in the SRT model are stitched and read "SRT 8". This "SRT" doesn't have this on the seats, nor does it have SRT spoiler on the trunk.
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When the Miami PD's speed boats are heading for the final showdown, Crocket's speed boat's running lights are backwards. The left (port) light should be red and the right (starboard) light should be green.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): During the last gunfight the headlights are shot out on the car that Sonny takes Isabella away in, but in the next scene they are working fine.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): Throughout the movie, Sonny's moustache gets randomly longer and shorter and even changes style at one point.
- Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): After Trudy is placed in the police car to be taken to the hospital, a crew member's reflection can be seen in the window of the car as it drives away.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): In a very early scene when the helicopter is tracking the informers car, the helicopter changes direction yet the infrared camera display keeps showing images from a straight moving helicopter. This is definitely an infrared camera display because it is used in the next scene.
- Movie Goof (errors in geography): The song Sonny and Isabella dance to in Cuba is not publicly performed in nightclubs. Quimbara (Quimbara quimbara quma quimbambá) is associated with Celia Cruz and her work is more or less forbidden.
- Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): When Sonny takes down the Aryan guard outside of the trailer, his rifle is clearly a rubber prop, as it is clearly bent while he is choking the guard and wobbles when he stands back up.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Sonny takes down the guard at the trailer park, he gets up and his vest straps fall off, but one second later we see that it back on yet he never reattached it.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): Crocket wrestles a guy to the ground right before they storm the trailer and his body armor goes from having the shoulder straps ripped off when he stands up, to being fully fastened as soon as the camera changes to him peering around the tree (next camera angle).
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): In the final dash to port in the "Go-Fast" boats, the boat nearer the audience has its bow navigation lights reversed.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Sonny tells Isabella to put some money aside and drop out of the business before she gets hurt, Isabella's earrings are swaying quite a bit when the camera is facing her, and they are still when the camera is behind her.
- Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): In the scene outside the hospital when Crockett is loading his guns into the trunk of the car and receives a call from Yero, the outline of Colin Farrell's lav mike, wire and mike head is clearly noticeable through his shirt.
- Movie Goof (errors in geography): When Crockett and Isabella go to Cuba to have mojitos, it is supposedly to La Bodeguita del Medio. The Bodeguita is in a closed-in neighborhood in Havana Vieja on a small street, about 6 blocks from the nearest docks, and with no ocean or highway view. Yet in the bar scene one can clearly make out the ocean and highways. Moreover, the Bodeguita is a tiny place with no outdoor seating, no disco-style dancing, and is mostly a sit-down restaurant with a small bar attached. It is not a "night-life" place.
- Movie Goof (factual errors): Aircraft that identifies itself as N1206S is a Beechcraft King Air B200. In reality the "N number" N1206S is registered to an Ayres Corporation S2R-600, a single, radial engine aircraft.
- Movie Goof (errors in geography): In the opening club scene when Crockett and Tubbs go the roof of Mansion, they are clearly on the roof of a building that is downtown Miami (Bank of American building in background, etc). Mansion is located on Washington Ave on Miami Beach, not downtown Miami.
- Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Isabella and Jesus discuss what to do with Crockett and Tubbs, they speak in English. Yet, both Spanish speakers, it is unclear why they do not converse in their common native tongue. (However, it is possible they filmed it in English to make it easier on the audience instead of having to read subtitles.)
- Movie Goof (continuity error): In the opening nightclub scene, the first shot of Crockett (over his shoulder) reveals him to be clearly wearing a white shirt under his suit- the collar is plainly visible. Cut to the next shot, from the front, and he is wearing a black t shirt instead.
- Movie Goof (audio/visual unsynchronized): When Sonny and Isabella are in Havana, at a diner having breakfast, she tells him her mother was a translator in Angola. Her lips don't match her speech at this line.
- Movie Goof (errors in geography): The building Neptune and his hookers enter when they are supposedly arriving at Mansion is not Mansion, which has a completely different entrance, located on Washington Avenue.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Sonny and Ricardo is walking on the streets in Haiti on the way to meet Yero in the restaurant. Sonny has no hair gel on. But when he walks in the restaurant. He has hair gel on and his hair is all combed back.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When the Aryan boss calls to change the final meet location to the shipyard, its still dark out. But when Tubbs and Crockett drive off to the to the meet the sky is much lighter. When they arrive at the shipyard it is again pre-dawn darkness.
- Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the final shootout, Gina gives Zito the green light to move to take cover behind some large wheels. But he walks to safety passing the front of the car where the firepower is, instead of round the back.
- Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): In the scene when Crockett and Isabella go to Cuba, the shadow of the camera is reflected on the windshield of the boat and on Colin Farrell's shirt too.
- Movie Goof (factual errors): When Ricardo is translating the email when they are on the ship, he chooses the origin language as English and the destination language as Spanish. Yet, when he presses translate, it translates from Spanish to English.
