The University of Toronto Men's varsity curling team were used as stand ins for Paul Gross' team.
CAMEO(Clarence W. "Shorty" Jenkins): The most famous curling icemaker of all time appears (wearing his trademark pink cowboy hat) in a non-speaking cameo role as the icemaker that prepares ("pebbles") the ice before the final competition.
The line "It's not the size of the army, it's the fury of the onslaught" was originally used in another Paul Gross production - "Due South" (1997) {Asylum (#1.9)}.
In an attempt to help make this Canadian-made film successful, Alliance Atlantis put on an advertising campaign that was on par with a campaign for a Hollywood-made film.
The Tragically Hip, one of Canada's most popular rock bands, appear in this film as team Kingston. All five members hail from Kingston, and four still reside there permanently.
