SPOILER: This is the first time Steven Seagal's character has lost a duel against another character in a film. Although it is done in such a way that suggests that his character chooses to lose rather than getting killed unwillingly.
Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): The scene where Sartana (Jessica Alba) walks over to the taco truck to talk to Luz ('Michelle Rodriguez' (I)) she orders two bean burritos but at the end of her conversation with Luz she says, "Where's my tacos"?
This marks the third time Steven Seagal and Danny Trejo have appeared together in a movie. First, briefly, in Marked for Death, and again in Urban Justice (2007) (V).
Movie Goof (continuity error): (Deliberate by filmmaker) During the pool scene, April as she enters the water is played by Lindsay Lohan. After Machete enters the pool, the character is clearly not Lohan. This is because the footage is actually from the "Machete" fake trailer that preceded Robert Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" segment in "Grindhouse" - one of several pieces of trailer footage that were re-used in the movie.
