Lost in Translation

"Everyone wants to be found."

The widely successful sophomore film by Sofia Coppola. Set in Tokyo under the bustling city life and lights, the two main characters from different generations build a surprising friendship on the common bond that they don’t have anything to do while they are in Tokyo. The film is a slow, dreamy and at times hilarious look at a relationship and the big city they move unknowingly.

  • The song in the arcade where the young boy is playing guitar is by the Japanese punk band "The Blue Hearts".
  • SPOILER: For years, no one other than Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson and Sofia Coppola knew what Bob whispered to Charlotte in the final scene, but on October 28, 2009, a youtube video surfaced containing a slightly enhanced audio of this part of the film with subtitles where more than 20 thousand visitors had a chance to find out that Bob whispered to Charlotte: 'I won't see you till the next making of Suntory. Go to that man and tell him the truth, okay?'
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When Bob first arrives at the hotel he has the first button or two undone on his shirt with no t-shirt visible. When we see him in the elevator moments later, a white t-shirt is visible under his shirt.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When Bob is with the masseuse, she pulls him down to the floor. In the close-up, his head is right next to a small table with a phone. When he gets up in the next shot, his head is much farther away.
