Little Women

Movie (1994)

"The story that has lived in our hearts for generations, now comes to the screen for the holidays."

With their father away fighting in the Civil War, Joe, Meg, Beth and Amy grow up with their mother in somewhat reduced circumstances. They are a close family who inevitably have their squabbles and tragedies. But the bond holds even when, later, male friends start to become a part of the household.

  • Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When looking at Laurie through the window, Jo wonders if he is a captive, "like Smee in Nicholas Nickelby". The character she is referring to, however, is called 'Smike'.
  • In the scene where Amy is reading to Aunt March from the Bible, the passage is Leviticus chapter 21, verse 23 through chapter 22, verse 1.
  • At the holiday party where the camera pans down through several floors, the space of the staircase where the camera flows down through is only a matter of inches, roughly 8" - 12" by 24", and is filmed in a castle in the suburbs of Victoria, B.C. in Canada
  • Movie Goof (anachronisms): In the final scene, Prof. Bhaer's umbrella has a modern spring clasp.
