Fletcher Reede is a fast-talking attorney and habitual liar. When his son Max blows out the candles on his fifth birthday he has just one wish - that his dad will stop lying for 24 hours. When Max's wish comes true, Fletcher discovers that his mouth has suddenly become his biggest liability.

Movie Goof (continuity error): The Tower plane that Fletcher chases is a Boeing 747, but the interior shots are not of a wide-bodied plane.
When Fletcher literally beats himself up in the restroom, no sound effects were used; those are really the sounds of Jim Carrey's head slamming into the urinal, floor and walls.
Movie Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): SPOILER: (At 79:00) As Fletcher's family walk through the crowd of people towards him, Jim Carrey is seen dressed as a fireman on a walkie talkie laughing. This is an in-joke relating to Carrey's Fire Marshal Bill from In Living Color.
Movie Goof (continuity error): When Audrey tells Jerry about "the Claw", she's holding her right arm when seen from behind, but her left arm (almost at the wrist) when seen from the front.
