An American girl on vacation in Italy finds an unanswered "letter to Juliet" -- one of thousands of missives left at the fictional lover's Verona courtyard, which are typically answered by a the "secretaries of Juliet" -- and she goes on a quest to find the lovers referenced in the letter.

  • Movie Goof (audio/visual unsynchronized): When Sophie is in Victor's restaurant kitchen to announce her going back to Verona, Victor sends all the kitchen employees out of the kitchen. While the employees are there, there are cooking sounds. After the employees are gone, the cooking sounds are gone but all the cooking is still happening in the background.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When Sophie first walks into the area with Juliet's wall, you can see a man taking a picture walking with his family over her left shoulder. The camera cuts to show the wall and then back to Sophie, where the man once again appears walking behind, taking a picture.
  • Hugh Dancy was originally cast as the male lead role but dropped out and was replaced by Gael García Bernal.
  • Juliet's secretaries really do exist. They are called the Juliet Club and they volunteer to reply to letters left in Verona, as well as organize events in honor of Romeo and Juliet.
