  • SPOILER: In the original film (and book), Eli (who Abby is based upon) is actually a male who is castrated during a vampire cult early in life. Hence why Eli is telling the boy "I am not a girl" However, Matt Reeves decided to drop this story line out of the American remake to make it more accessible to a public American audience by making Abby a female.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): During the scene when Owen is watching TV Abby knocks on the door, Owen gets up to answer it and the TV is still on; but when Abby enters, the two are standing in the room but the TV is turned off.
  • The word "vampire" is only said once in the film.
  • The Morse code message shown at the end of the official trailer spells out the words "Help Me".
