Intrepid British archaeologist Lara Croft has made perhaps the most important archaeological discovery in history: an orb that leads to the mythical Pandora's Box. Unfortunately, the orb falls into the hands of Jonathan Reiss, an evil scientist who deals in killer viruses and hopes to sell the secrets of the box as the ultimate weapon.

One of Angelina Jolie's stunt doubles was a man.
Just as in the first film, there are several scenes in which the live-action Lara mimics the computer game version, in particular a scene in which she climbs around a pagoda and pole-vaults to a helicopter. She also takes a nasty fall as the animated Lara was prone to do.
Movie Goof (factual errors): When Lara goes to the prison where Terry is being held, Kazakhstan is misspelled "Kazahkstan".
Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Lara and Terry speak to the residents of a boat in Hong Kong, they communicate in Mandarin. However, Cantonese is more commonly spoken among in Hong Kong locals than Mandarin.
