Pat Riley, an obnoxious busybody of indeterminable sex, meets and falls in love with Chris, a sensitive, caring person also of indeterminable sex. Their relationship suffers because Pat's a lout, and cannot decide on a direction for its life. Meanwhile, Pat's neighbor Kyle falls further and further into obsession with Pat, fascinated by its indeterminate sexuality.

Movie Trivia/Goofs

Movie Goof (continuity error): While Kyle is watching Pat on "America's Weirdest People" his shirt has a blue collar. After the show ends, his shirt has a red collar.
A scene in the film explains Pat's sex with Japanese subtitles. It then had a worker walking in front of the subtitles while vacuuming so that Pat's sex could not be determined by viewers. When shown on television now the subtitles are no longer included.
Quentin Tarantino, a good friend of Julia Sweeney, worked on the script uncredited.
Two cameos that ended up on the cutting-room floor: Harvey Keitel as a priest and Jonathan Richman as Pat's father.
