Interstate 60: Episodes of the Road Trivia

  • According to Kurt Russell on the audio commentary on Big Trouble in Little China, he said that he shot one day on this movie and it was the most dialogue he had since making "Big Trouble".
  • During the perception test scene, Christopher Lloyd was unable to perform the trick shuffles, and a professional magician was called in to double.
  • When Neal and O.W. Grant are approaching interstate 60, O.W. says, "There's a signpost up ahead." This is a famous line from The Twilight Zone (1959).
  • The character of O.W. Grant is a compilation of many different trickster figures in world mythologies. It is stated that he is half-leprechaun, which is shown in his red hair. Also, the monkey pipe is a reference to the Monkey figure of Eastern mythologies. The pipes smoke can also be interpreted as a reference to Djinni.
  • The tie worn by Christopher Lloyd's character Ray, when he performs the perception test, is a 1995 Ralph Marlin Tie entitled Billiards II.
  • In Neil's room, a "X-Men" comic book featuring Cyclops in the cover can be seen. James Marsden (Neil) played Cyclops in X-Men, and would play the character again in its sequels.
  • The number of the building where Neal has his appointment with Ray for the delivery is 555, an obvious reference to the fictional exchange for phone numbers in various movies. ("555" is reserved for phone company testing purposes, and no actual numbers exist using it in any area code.)
  • There is no interstate highway number 60 in the The Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways in the United States. If there were, its eastern end would have to be north of Raleigh NC (Interstate 40) south of Richmond VA (Interstate 64). Its western end would have to be south of Monroe UT (Interstate 79) and north of Barstow CA (Interstate 40).
  • When Neal first sees his birthday gift, a red BMW convertible, the music wanders to the same few notes as in _Back To the Future (1985)_ (also written by Bob Gale) when Marty opens the garage to see his new truck.
  • This film marks the first time Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox have been in the same movie since Back to the Future Part III (although they did appear in an episode of Spin City together).
  • Throughout the opening sequence there are references to X-men and Marvel comics. The lead male is also Cyclops in the new X-Men movies.
  • The clock behind Christopher Lloyd in the 13th floor office reads 10:04, the same time frozen on the clock tower in Back to the Future.
