Around this time, a Gujarat fan of his named Pratap Karwat began to pester him on the phone, claiming he had an interesting story for him. Bhansali kept fobbing him off until the man flew into a rage and forced him to listen to his story on the phone - and Bhansali loved it enough to want to meet him the next day.
• In Aishwarya Rai's first scene, she is seen walking across the Kutch desert. She did this barefoot and in 35 degree weather. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali later expressed his great gratitude and respect for her having done so.
