• Movie Goof (continuity error): The potions book which Harry gets from Slughorn's cupboard has the words "This book is property of the Half-Blood Prince" clearly handwritten on the first page. In a later shot the handwriting changes to a more print-like font.
• Even though they are mentioned in the book, the Dursleys do not appear. This is the second film they have been left out of, with the first being Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
• When Harry is in Dumbledore's office at the end of the film, a bowl of sherbet lemons can be seen on his desk. This is a throwback to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, when Dumbledore announces they are his favorite Muggle candy.
• Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Harry opens the prince's book after the scene which Ginny takes the book from him and reads aloud "This book is property of the Half-Blood Prince" the camera goes through pages of the book and there's a page in which we see "Sectumpsempra. For Enemies". The first word is "Sectumsempra" not "SectumPsempra".
