  • Madonna was Prince's first choice for the role of the Kid's angelic muse Aura. She turned it down, telling him that "the screenplay was awful".
  • Kim Basinger was Prince's 2nd choice to star in the film for the role of Aura, hoping that her casting would lead to a box-office success. However, Basinger and Prince broke up before production began and he scrambled to find a replacement. Sheena Easton, Mayte Garcia, and Sheila E. were considered before Ingrid Chavez was eventually cast.
  • Numerous Internet sources erroneously list J.D. Williams as a member of Melody Cool Choir. In an interview, Williams stated that he does not appear in this film and was never a member of the group.
