  • Movie Goof (anachronisms): When Texas Western is playing Kansas for the Midwest Finals, there is a KU banner hanging from the rafters of the ceiling of the auditorium. The banner depicts the KU Jayhawk facing the right. That is the current KU logo, but in 1965, the logo would have been facing left.
  • Movie Goof (anachronisms): In the opening, the caption reads "Fort Worth, Texas 1965 High School State Championship" which was not possible, since Coach Haskins began coaching at Texas Western in 1961.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): During the grueling "AM" practice, Coach Haskins is seen wearing a white shirt while mocking the players about the previous night. In other frames of the practice, he is seen wearing a black shirt. When he goes back to his room and kisses his wife, the shirt is white again.
  • CAMEO(Don Haskins): playing a gas station attendant on the recruiting trip.
