Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter Goofs/Mistakes
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Tommy Jarvis is playing Zaxxon on his computer and talking to his Mother, if you watch closely his ship is about to hit a force-field and he is going to die in the game. They cut away and a second later he is nowhere near the force-field with no chance of dieing in the game.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Trish picks up the TV, she accidentally knocks the lamp onto the ground. But when Trish and Tommy are coming out of the room after hitting Jason, you can see the lamp is standing up again in the background.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): Trish swings the machete overhanded, but in the next shot she knocks Jason's mask off underhanded.
- Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): When Trish and her mom are jogging, a bush in front of them moves before they run by it, caused by the cameraman brushing it as he walked backwards.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Rob meets Trish and Tommy at their car, he is carrying only a camping pack. Later, when he walks up the stairs, he is carrying a large duffle bag. Later still, when he leaves the house, he is carrying the camping pack and a short duffle bag.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): In Part III, Jason's fingernails were neat and trimmed, but in Part IV (which occurs the very next day), they are long and black.
- Movie Goof (factual errors): When Trisha's car breaks down the solenoid is cited as the cause. A solenoid controls voltage to the starter (which was working) and would not cause a vehicle's engine to stall.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): As Trish waits in Rob's tent, the movie cuts back and forth repeatedly between a medium shot in which she is looking to her right, and a closeup in which she is looking to her left.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Sara goes into the second floor bathroom to dry her hair, there is a bench in the hall. Later, when Jason chases Trish upstairs, the bench has moved across the hall.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): Jason's arm falls off the table and onto the nurse. When she moves away, his arm is barely moved, but in the very next shot, his arm is a different position.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Jason is trying to break into Tommy's room and trying to move the bookcase, he knocks several items off its shelves, including a yellow and orange dragon model which reappears on the shelf in the next shot. Additionally, as Jason breaks in, a purple monster mask hanging in Tommy's room starts to spin, then stops a few shots later, then starts spinning again in the next shot.
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Tina lands on the hood of the car after being thrown from the window, her shirt rides up far enough to reveal that we are looking at a (not anatomically correct) rubber dummy.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Tommy first looks at the machete on the ground, the handle is on the corner of the rug, but when he picks it up, it is not on the rug at all.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): Jason crushes a lamp on the floor and for an instant it becomes pitch black. A moment later, the room is lit again by a sudden occurrence of "moonlight."
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Gordon (the dog) jumps through the window, in one shot, he is breaking the glass, but in the next shot, he is moving through the window with no glass around him.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Sam and Sarah are talking on the pier, Sam's arms change positions between shots.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When we see brief glimpses of Jason's mask when he kills Axel, Nurse Morgan, and Doug, the mask has the two red marks on either side of the nose, but in all scenes after Doug's death, the red marks disappear.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When the paramedics are rolling Jason, his feet are not facing them, but when they come into the room with Axel, Jason has switched postions.
- Movie Goof (plot holes): In Part III, Jason was stabbed in the leg and his hand, yet in Part IV (which takes place the next day), there is no blood stain nor cut in his pants or his leg, and no wound on his hand.
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): Right before Trish jumps out of the window, you can clearly see in the moonlight both of Ted White's perfectly normal eyes staring at her.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): Amount of banana eaten by hitch-hiker as Jason kills her.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Tommy Jarvis is pretending to sleep and his mother comes in, he is lying on his stomach. After she covers him up and closes the blind, he is lying on the back of his shoulder.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Tommy and Trish hide in the room, Tommy grabs a chair which is teetering in his hand, but in the next shot, it is suddenly firmly on the floor.
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Trish jumps out of the window and lands, you can see that she sinks into the ground (on presumably a crash mat), but in the next shot, she begins to stand on firm ground. In addition, you can see the stunt woman is wearing a back pad and heavy hose.
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Jason throws Tina out of the window, the top view shot shows that the car is already dented and the glass is already shattered before she lands.
- Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): When Jason throws the hammer at Trish after bursting through the door of the Jarvis home, you can see the safety guideline the hammer rode on to hit its mark. Furthermore, due to it being pulled by a line, the hammer hits the wall with its flat top instead of the claw or head but remains lodged there instead of bouncing off.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): Through out this whole movie Jason Voorhees has long black fingernails and gray colored skin on his hands. When Jason kills the hitch hiker he has normal looking human hands. (Tom Savini stepped in and played Jason in this scene, but forgot to put makeup on his hands).
- Movie Goof (plot holes): Tommy is looking at articles Rob has. One is titled "Murderer strikes Cafe" then "Cafe owner and wife found slain". Assuming that is Harold and Edna the article would have been wrong. It wasn't a café, it was a little grocery store.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Rob, Trish and Gordon go into the neighbor's house they enter through the front door. When Trish runs out she first opens the same front door but now Tina's body in the way. Jason was supposedly in the basement the whole time. How did her body get there?
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Trish sneaks up behind Jason and swings the machete, the shot from behind her has her swinging it with both hands. But in the shot from in front of her she's swinging it with one hand.
- Movie Goof (audio/visual unsynchronized): When Trish lands on the ground after jumping from a window, she causes a board to bounce up into the air; it lands first on another board and then on her arm, but both times makes a sharp "wood against wood" sound on impact.
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): In the shot where Jason is lifting Paul into the air with the spear-gun, you can see the two wires lifting the actor into the air, even though the filmmakers tried to cover it up with fog
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Jason lunges out of the water and onto Sam, who is in the raft, his arm initially wraps his left arm over her entire body and grabs her right rib cage. The very next cut you see his left hand on her left shoulder, the should closest to him. This hand placement disregards that he made such an intense leap out of the water.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): Doug's hair changes between shots when he is in the shower.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): Pamela Voorhees' tombstone reads "1930-1979". But Part I shows her death taking place on Friday, June 13th, and June 13 1979 was a Wednesday. (The year of her death should be 1980, as the first film was released in that year, and June 13th was indeed a Friday that year.)
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Jimbo is killed with the cleaver, you can see that the cleaver has the front cut out of it to accommodate Jimbo's head.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): On the cover of the Friday the 13th case, the ax mark left from the previous movie is located on the left side (looking at case), while in part III & IV the mask mark is located on the opposite side
- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): In some shots of Jason, the eyebrows of actor Ted White can be seen through the eye holes in the mask. Jason does not have eyebrows, as shown at the end of the film when his mask comes off.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): Tommy isn't wearing glasses while he is playing his computer game, so it can be assume that he needs them for distance. However, in the scene were he is watching Paul and Sam he doesn't have his glasses on but he can still see what is going on.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Jason chases Trish to the neighbors house she jumps over Tina's body and stares at Jason. You can clearly see the red marks on the cheek part of the hockey mask, but when he chases her upstairs before she breaks out the window you can see the marks are gone.
