• Movie Goof (revealing mistake): The scenes at the Freedomland facility appear to be in late fall/winter - trees are bare, subjects are wearing heavy clothing. When Lorenzo interviews Brenda, he states on the tape recorder the date of the interview is May.
• Michael Winterbottom was the original director and did extensive work before leaving this project.
• Movie Goof (continuity error): When Lorenzo and Brenda are in the car driving through the crowd, in the long shot the windows are half-way down, and in the close shots the windows are all the way up.
• Movie Goof (continuity error): SPOILER: The scene where Lorenzo and Brenda are over the grave of her son discussing if she built it or not, her hair frequently changes between being over her ear and tucked behind it between shots.
