Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Movie Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): During the Taboo game, Denver answers "What is the capital of China?" with "Hong Kong". This is part of the joke. Denver and his wife, who obviously have little education, think that Hong Kong is the capital of China. The point of the game was for Denver to guess that "Hong Kong" was the answer on the card, which he did. The point of the scene was to demonstrate how well they knew each other and how poorly Kate and Brad knew each other. The fact that Denver got "Hong Kong" from "What is the capital of China?" helped to make that scene funny.
  • Movie Goof (errors in geography): Based on their bar scene and apartment interior, the couple (Kate and Brad) appear to live in swanky SF apartment, yet when they depart to San Francisco Airport (SFO) they drive over the Golden Gate Bridge which is North of San Francisco; SFO is to the South.
  • The film started production during the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike, which meant that there could be no changes made to the script during filming.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): During the scene in the car while Kate and Brad are going to their final Christmas at her fathers, they are arguing. This is an obvious re-shoot because at some points she is wearing a wig and then in the next shot it is back to her normal hair. It goes back and forth this way throughout the scene.
