Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Edie's opening lines state that her "great-great-great-great uncle was a signer of the Declaration of Independence...". It was in fact her great-great-great uncle, William Ellery who was the signatory of the United States Declaration of Independence in 1776.
Gavin Rossdale was once in talks to play Gerard Malanga.
The newspaper clipping handed to Edie reads "Dr. Kenneth B. Clement, ranaround naked chanting 'Banana Man.' narrowest margin in amayoral election. The final count withal precincts reporting, was Locher to Stokes.", over and over as filler space.
Katie Holmes was originally set to play Edie Sedgwick, but dropped out due to her conflicting religious beliefs with the character's drug-addiction. Holmes also became pregnant right before filming was scheduled to begin.
