Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • When Cale and Ben go to Ashford Stud to check out the studs, the stallions they are naming, such as Fusaichi Pegasus, Giant's Causeway, Johannesburg and Grand Slam, are real horses who actually stand at Ashford. However, the actual stallions were not used in filming. Stand-ins were placed in their stalls instead.
  • Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Cale Crane is at the meeting for the officials to announce who will be in the Breeders Cup race, when they put in the tags for the names of horses that will be racing they spelled soñador's name wrong. The "N" in her name is supposed to have a ~ over top of it to get the "NY" sound.
  • While doing research in Kentucky, the director/writer came upon a vet who told him about a racehorse who miraculously made a come back after a serious injury.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): After losing the horse in a claims race, Ben is seen talking with Cale in the stable. Near the end of the scene the camera is zoomed into Ben's face. Cale is leaving the stable and Ben's eyes look to his right as Cale walks past, yet the next camera angle shows Cale walking out to Ben's left.
