  • Some scenes in the film are extremely lengthy. Some of the conversations between Sister Aloysius, Father Flynn, Sister James and Mrs Miller run to 10-15 minutes.
  • The play won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): A boy is caught listening to a World Series Game. The leaves had fallen off the trees, which generally doesn't happen until mid-to-late November. The 1964 World Series took place in early October.
  • Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): During the Mass at the film's beginning, Sister Aloysius moves beside the pews where the St. Nicholas students are seated, catching those who are misbehaving during Father Flynn's homily. When she reaches the pew where the boy is asleep, she bends down so that she is at eye-level with the student. He senses her stare and snaps to attention. When Sister Aloysius rises, she looks toward the altar and crosses herself, but does so incorrectly. One is to move one's hand from forehead to breast, and then from the left to the right shoulder. Sister Aloysisu moves her hand from her breast to her right shoulder and then her left.
