• In the original Die Hard, John McClane only had a few scripted one-liners. However, 'Bruce Willis (I)' ad-libbed so many one liners and audiences liked them so much that in this sequel (and the next one), more gags were added and Willis was told he could ad-lib as many more as he saw fit.
• Although the movie was filmed using a fictitious airport and/or other airports with stood in for Dulles Int'l Airport, the movie posters along with the VHS and DVD covers for the movie show a picture of the actual Dulles Airport itself.
• Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Thornburg shuts himself in the bathroom in order to phone the studio, the overhead shot clearly shows that the toilet is fake; lined with silver foil, rather than an actual metal fitment you'd expect to find in a plane.
• Movie Goof (plot holes): Several shots show the view from the Control Tower where the visibility is good enough to see the runways and even the lights from the airport perimeter. This would mean that there would have been enough visibility to land airplanes. Also the crash at the beginning would not have happened because their glide path put them on the runway, the pilots would have seen the ground in time to avoid it.
