Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Movie Goof (factual errors): Meryl is a successful real estate agent in New York. When she gets to Wyoming, she begins selling real estate there as well. Legally, she would only have a real estate license valid in New York and would not be able to sell or broker real estate in Wyoming without a valid Wyoming real estate license, pursuant to Wyoming state laws and codes.
  • Sarah Jessica Parker's character's wedding vows to Hugh Grant's character ("Let me not to the marriage of true minds...") are taken from William Shakespeare's Sonnet 116, published in 1609.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When Meryl leaves Paul early and he keeps on running and she heads back to the farm. While running she wears tight fitting grey leggings, but when she shows up in the barn she wears loose fitting sweatpants.
  • Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): An experienced shooter like Emma would never allow a first-timer like Meryl to hold and fire a rifle as depicted in this film. By pressing her cheek against the side of the rifle while failing to secure the stock firmly with her shoulder, Meryl would likely have seriously injured herself as a result of the recoil produced by firing. This was demonstrated in the same scene when Paul injured his shoulder despite holding the rifle more correctly.
