Devil Goofs/Mistakes

  • Movie Goof (miscellaneous): No one in southeastern PA would refer to Bethlehem Pike as 'The' Bethlehem Pike. The addition of the word 'the' is a uniquely Californian colloquialism (as in 'the 405' or 'the San Diego Freeway').
  • Movie Goof (factual errors): At the beginning of the movie, the initial 1 is left off the reference to the Bible verse. The verse shown is actually 1 Peter 5:8, not Peter 5:8 as shown.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): At several points in the film, Tony touches the light bulb which hangs from the elevator ceiling including when he is bringing the elderly woman down who hangs from it. However the lights in the elevator are on at the time that he touches them and only go off very briefly at several points the film, therefore they would be hot and would burn him. He shows no reaction at all.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): SPOILER: In the scene where Tony has a flashback to when he crashed the car into Detective Bowman's wife and kid, you can see that when the car spins into the ditch, the license plate is backwards, meaning that the clip was reversed.
  • Movie Goof (factual errors): SPOILER: When the salesman dies in the elevator, Detective Bowden gets on his radio and says "we have a possible 187." 187 is the California penal code section for homicide. This movie is set in Philadelphia and there is no penal code section 187 in Pennsylvania.
