Movie (1975)

In a boorish future, the government sponsors a popular, but bloody, cross-country race in which points are scored by mowing down pedestrians. Five teams, each comprised of a male and female, compete using cars equipped with deadly weapons. Frankenstein, the mysterious returning champion, has become America's hero, but this time he has a passenger from the underground resistance.

Movie Trivia/Goofs

Movie Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): After Frankenstein has reaches the finish line, a shot clearly shows him using his right hand to lift himself up and out the car, despite his navigator having removed it just a couple minutes before. This is because this is actually the navigator posing as Frankenstein. This shot is a clue to Frankenstein's final ruse, and thus not an error.
Movie Goof (continuity error): When the "bullifighter" challenges Calamity Jane, there is a quick close-up of a spinning wheel whose rim different than those on Jane's car.
The car in which President Frankenstein and Annie drive away in after their wedding is a Richard Oaks Nova kit-car, actually based on the Volkswagen Beetle chassis (but obviously not the body). These were available in kit form for many years starting in the mid-1970s.
Movie Goof (errors in geography): The shot of the racers in Manhattan en route to the Lincoln Tunnel was clearly filmed in downtown Los Angeles.
