Daylight Goofs/Mistakes

  • Movie Goof (audio/visual unsynchronized): (At 22:25) When Kit tells the chief about the simulation that was done in 1994, both actors said "1993" when the scene was filmed, but "1994" was dubbed in later. (In a later scene, when Kit refers to the simulation again, it is said correctly as "1994".)
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Eleanor is holding the pipe in George's mouth after he has been pinned under the truck the sleeve of a bright pink wetsuit can be seen under her shirt sleeve.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When the Cadillac driven by the jewelry thieves is racing through the tunnel, the grille of the car varies between being in perfect shape and being completely ripped out.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When Kit and Madelyne are coming out of the water after the explosion the sky is cloudy, but when they are saved a few minutes later the sky is clear and the sun is shining brightly.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): The water, entering the tunnel from the river above, is much too clear. Due to mud and sand above the tunnel ceiling the water should be brown and dirty.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When the rolling tunnel explosion happens, there is a shot of the explosion rolling over cars that are already damaged from the explosion, yet it hasn't reached them yet.
  • Movie Goof (factual errors): In the beginning of the movie when they have to shut down the fans so Sylvester Stallone's character can get into the vent system, he gets past the first fan and then it kicks on. The other fans aren't moving that fast. Once the first fan kicked on, the other fans should be spinning much faster due to fluidic coupling, which is similar to a torque converter in a car.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Kit goes through the first fan, they have to slow it down because it is going much too fast. When he gets to the other 3 fans, they are almost stopped as well. The fans are not connected together. Otherwise, they would have all started at the same time too.
  • Movie Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): At the beginning of the movie there are two lanes of traffic going into the tunnel even though there is a solid, double yellow line between them. This road marking does not necessarily mean that there should be two lanes of traffic traveling in opposite directions, but rather it indicates that passing or changing lanes is illegal or at least severely restricted.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When George falls into the hole, it would have instantly filled with water because the rest of the tunnel was almost waist deep.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): In the scene where the jeweler is getting into his car, you can see the sign to the jewelry store behind him. The word 'jewelry' is misspelled. It says 'jewlery'.
  • Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): When Roy Nord is heading off to check out the damage for himself after George tells him it's all blocked off, there's a shot of him walking down the tunnel towards the wall of fire, and his shadow is cast on the wall behind him. For a few seconds, there is ANOTHER shadow of somebody running that appears in front of Roy's, then disappears.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When George is looking at the security camera telling the control room to cut the power there are clearly five cracks in the camera glass but when Kit looks at the monitor screen from the control room there are seven cracks seen on the monitor from that supposed camera feed.
  • Movie Goof (plot holes): George is next to the truck that explodes, he is not in a car, and doesn't have anything to cover himself. Yet, he is one of the only survivors.
  • Movie Goof (anachronisms): When Kit finds some fuses, he finds them underwater, making them wet. Furthermore, they were down there for about 80 years. Water-proof fuses were not invented in the 1920s.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): After George meets the first survivors, he hands them his flash light and heads off to look for more people. In the next shot he is holding the flashlight.
  • Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When the tunnel entrance collapses on top of the cars in front you can see that they are empty when they are supposed to be filled with drivers.
