In the glamorous world of New York City, Rebecca Bloomwood is a fun-loving girl who is really good at shopping-a little too good, perhaps. She dreams of working for her favorite fashion magazine, but can't quite get her foot in the door-until ironically, she snags a job as an advice columnist for a financial magazine published by the same company.

Isla Fisher is only 14 years younger then Joan Cusack who plays her mother, Jane Bloomwood.
SPOILER: At the end, Rebecca pays off her entire debt in coins, stating that she was doing it in the most inconvenient way possible. In real life, Mr. Smeath could have refused to accept it. While coins are legal tender within the Federal Reserve System, no law requires a merchant or anyone else to accept them. Legally, however, the debt would be considered paid off if he'd refused her payment.
Movie Goof (crew or equipment visible): SPOILER: When Rebecca first throws the block of ice to free her credit card, the block falls from the stove to the floor. As the camera follows it, a crew member is kneeling down, in black jeans and tennis shoes.
Movie Goof (continuity error): At Rebecca's first meeting at Successful Savings, she pulls out a small notebook and lays a pencil to the left of it. In the next shot, as she pulls out a small pencil sharpener, the pencil is on the opposite side of the notebook.
