Cold Mountain is the film adaptation of the novel by the same name from Charles Frazier. A star-studded film taking place in North Carolina during the Civil War. The film portrays civilian life during the war from the perspective of a woman who has been left behind as the men fight.

Movie Trivia/Goofs

Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When the Yankees are charging after exploding the breastworks at Petersburg, a soldier's obviously rubber bayonet can be seen flopping as he runs.
Movie Goof (anachronisms): Before the Civil War even begins (1861), Ada asks Inman if he "had a picture made ... a tintype." The word tintype did not come into use until 1864. Before the War, these pictures were known as ferrotypes or ambrotypes.
Many of the scenes were shot in the Carpathian Mountains in Romania, e.g. around the city Brasov or in the canyon of Zarnesti.
Matt Damon, Josh Hartnett, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Eric Bana were all considered for roles.
