Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • The volcano scenes were shot at the Dinorwic Slate Quarry in Wales. This is a notorious location, used for fantasies like Willow and Street Fighter.
  • Movie Goof (factual errors): In Greek mythology, Pegasus does not exist until Perseus slays Medusa. In the cave he came upon the sleeping Stheno, Euryale and Medusa. By viewing Medusa's reflection in his polished shield, he safely approached and cut off her head. From her neck sprang Pegasus ("he who sprang") and Chrysaor ("bow of gold"), the result of Poseidon and Medusa's meeting.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When Medusa creeps up on Ixas from behind and he turns around to face her, there's a string of hair stuck horizontally to his forehead where there wasn't in the previous shot.
  • Movie Goof (errors in geography): According to legend, Zeus' symbol was the Golden Eagle which he kept by his side at all times. In the movie, the Golden Eagle is replaced by an American Bald Eagle - identifiable by the white plumage on the head and tail - which is endemic to North America.
