  • Movie Goof (factual errors): The movie, set in 117 CE, has Julius Agricola as governor of Britain. Julius Agricola died in 93 CE (and was recalled from Britain in 85 CE).
  • German archaeologists have found evidence of the Ninth legion on the banks of the River Rhine and carbon dated them long after these events took place suggesting that rather than them being wiped out, the reason that there is no evidence of them being in Scotland after these battles is that they moved to Germany.
  • Movie Goof (factual errors): The Romans used treated leather for making tents (water resistant), not canvas as shown in the movie.
  • Movie Goof (factual errors): The stirrup was not used by the Roman cavalry they used a saddle which had four prominent horns for securely seating the rider.
