• Movie Goof (anachronisms): The flight with the balloon is an (minor) anachronism. The first manned hot air balloon (manufactured by the Montgolfier brothers) made it's first flight in 1783, when Casanova was 58 years old.
• Movie Goof (factual errors): The "university auditorium" where Casanova first sees Francesca Bruni is not a building in Venice, but the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, a town approx. 45 minutes west of Venice.
• Movie Goof (continuity error): SPOILER: During the duel, right before it is revealed that Francesca is, in fact, fighting in her brother's place, she goes from hat on, to hat fallen off, to hat back on within the space of a second.
• Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Francesca Bruni jumps from the gallows to the horse, the stunt double is wearing a black wig, but Francesca's hair is auburn brown.
