Bunty Aur Babli

Bunty and Babli are two avid dreamers. Two free souls born into caged small town realities. They grow weary of being two specks on the horizon. They desire the horizon itself. And so they pack their aspirations in worn out bags, whip a scarf of confidence around their proud necks and set forth. On a journey across the length and breadth of the country, spinning circles around the people they meet.

Movie Trivia/Goofs

→ View All
  • Due to violations of Supreme Court laws, which state that no vehicles or smoke/polluting devices are to come within 500 meters of the Taj Mahal (on 11 December), by the unit of Shaad Ali, the director of the film, the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of the Police of Agra, have been issued notices by the civil judge (junior division) Shahid Raza. The court issued the notices based on the plea of social workers Subhash Dhal, Jagdish Varma and Rajnish Gupta. On the said date, the unit used black smoke devices, generator sets within 200 meters of the Taj and even brought vehicles within the same distance and despite being brought to the notice of the district administration, no action was taken to sort the matter or stop the shooting.
  • Hrithik Roshan was approached for the role of Bunty. However, recalling the disastrous Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, he put a condition that he would do the film if it was directed by either Yash Chopra or Aditya Chopra. Abhishek Bachchan was approached next and he accepted the role.
  • The horn-rimmed glasses and old-fashioned dress Babli dons to give an old-fashioned look to her persona is a reference to the popular Hindi serial _Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin (2003)_.
  • Heard in the mujra hall is the song "Dil Cheez Kya Hai" from Umrao Jaan (1981). Interestingly, Aishwarya Rai, who has a special appearance in this film, plays the titular character in Umrao Jaan (1981)'s remake, Umrao Jaan (2006), which also stars Abhishek Bachchan.
