Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Johnny Depp and Joaquin Phoenix were considered for the role of Darcy.
  • Among many other similarities between Pride and Prejudice and Bride and Prejudice is the obvious connections between names. Some of the parallel characters with similar/altered names are:Lalita = similar to Elizabeth Bennet's nickname, Lizzy; Jaya = Jane; Lahki = Lydia; Will Darcy = Fitzwilliam Darcy; Mr Kohli = Mr Collins. Wickham is still Wickham. Even Darcy's sister is named Georgie, as compared to Pride and Prejudice's Georgianna.
  • Before filming had started, Aishwarya Rai didn't want to read the novel "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen because she didn't want the character of Elizabeth to influence her.
  • Many of the background dancers and extras in "A Marriage Has Come To Town" were cast from the local Sikh temple. Gurinder Chadha didn't care if he or she could dance as long as they looked like they were having fun while dancing.
