On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old "halfling." Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts.

Movie Trivia/Goofs

Movie Goof (continuity error): After Saya hides Allison under a wicker basket, Allison draws the wicker threads aside to see the fight better. Then there's a shot from inside of the basket, and the threads are on their original positions. After some time there's another shot like that ant the threads are spread like they should be.
Movie Goof (anachronisms): F-16 aircraft are shown at the airbase (along with more period-correct scooters, albeit in incorrect color schemes and location) but this was set 3 years before they were designed and first flew. The F-16 didn't enter US service until 1980.
Movie Goof (anachronisms): One of the students plays a record of Deep Purple's Space Truckin' which was released in 1972, two years after the film is set.
Movie Goof (continuity error): Saya's underwear changes during fights from longer boy pants to bikini briefs and back.
