• This film was intended as a wide theatrical release; however, the film tested poorly and studio executives then considered going direct to DVD as a result. Ultimately the studio decided to give it a limited theatrical release in Texas (the home state of Jessica Simpson and Luke Wilson) in an attempt to generate interest and more accurately assess the film's box-office potential. After the film grossed only $1190.00 on eight screens, the studio decided not to expand the limited theatrical release any further.
• Movie Goof (continuity error): In the scene where Debra is giving Katie a makeover her make up changes from bright blue shadow and red lipstick to brown, and then it changes again.
• The second movie Jessica Simpson and Willie Nelson have been in together.
• Evie Thompson was cast in the role of Young Katie (Jessica) but the scenes were cut. She does, however, still appear in the beginning of the film in photo stills.
