Beverly Hills Cop III

"In for the ride of his life!"

Detroit cop Axel Foley is back in sunny Southern California in the third installment of the comedic fish-out-of-water Beverly Hills Cop series. On the trail of two murderers, Axel again teams up with Los Angeles cop Billy Rosewood. Soon, they discover that an amusement park is being used as a front for a massive counterfeiting ring -- and it's run by the same gang that shot Billy's boss.

  • When John Ashton was unable to reprise his role of Taggart, his part was re-written as John Flint (Hector Elizondo) and dialog was inserted to explain that Taggartt had retired and moved to Phoenix. Ronny Cox was also unable to reprise his role of Bogomil due to commitments to other projects, however his absence is never addressed in this movie, nor is he mentioned at any point. Both Ashton and Cox due have subtle cameos in this movie, in the form of a picture on Rosewood's desk of Foley, Taggart, Rosewood, and Bogomil on a fishing trip. This is the very same picture which also appeared in Beverly Hills Cop II on Bogomil's and Foley's desks.
  • Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): At least twice during the film, characters refer to the counterfeit paper as being "U.S. Mint quality". However, the U.S. Mint (contrary to common misconception) does not print paper currency. It only mints coins. Paper money is made by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. One of the characters who makes the error is the Secret Service Agent. Since the primary purpose of the Secret Service is to prevent counterfeiting, one would think a Secret Service Agent would be knowledgeable about where paper money is printed.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): During the shoot out scene near the beginning of the movie, the car which Axel Foley is hiding behind shows too few bullet holes in the wide shots and too many in the close-up shots.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): At the chop shop, right after Bobby and Snake finish their "musical show" and Snake goes to the door, the neck of his shirt is misfolded in the back. When the camera changes to show Bobby walking to the door, we can look at Snake and see how the shirt's neck has been fixed magically.
