SPOILER: The wallpaper in Barton's room only peels when John Goodman's character is in or has just left Barton's room.
Joel Coen and Ethan Coen's first movie without cinematographer Barry Sonnenfeld. Sonnenfeld appears in a cameo early in the movie - he is the page calling for Barton Fink in the restaurant.
Movie Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): Barton's hotel room is on the sixth floor, but when he takes the elevator down to the lobby to see the two detectives, the elevator passes more than six floors. This may be a deliberate effect to create disorientation and suspense.
