Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • French actor Vincent Cassel was initially sought to be cast in the lead role.
  • Movie Goof (errors in geography): The Noelite Convent appears for the first time with the location 41°10'N and 74°46'E, identified as Mongolia. According to Google Earth, that location is a mountain in Kyrgyzstan, more than 1000 km from the Mongolian border.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): Immediately after Toorop fires his gun into the air in the crowd of vehicle traffic when he, Sister Rebeka and Aurora are leaning against the car the phone earpiece is in Toorop's right ear. In the next shot where Toorpo looks to the subway the phone earpiece is gone.
  • Prior to the film's United States release date, rumors hit the internet that the studio had cut 70 minutes of Mathieu Kassovitz's original version, against his wishes, to get to a running time of 93 minutes. However, later comments by Kassovitz suggested that only around 14 minutes of footage had been cut or altered, meaning the "Raw and Unrated" version released on home video, which alters or restores approximately 14 minutes worth of material, is probably his version.
