- Movie Goof (revealing mistake): When Cecilia is at the top of the water tower at night, the door is wide open, but when it shows Aquamarine inside, the door is shut half way.
- JMB FX Studio produced the mermaid tails for actress Sara Paxton. The tails were sculpted over Sara's body cast. Foam and silicone skins were produced for 4 tails, each tail was covered in over 5000 scales. A fully cable controlled tail was also produced for the more complicated and subtle moves of the fluke that the suit tails could not perform.
- Movie Goof (continuity error): When Aquamarine talks to Raymond for the first time, the blue streaks in her hair are bright and prominent, but when she goes to the hammock complaining that Raymond doesn't love her, the streaks have disappeared
- Movie Goof (errors in geography): The movie is set in Florida but really was filmed in Australia. One scene in particular shows the girls reading magazines. One magazine is TotalGirl which is only sold in Australia and the areas around it.
