• Movie Goof (anachronisms): During the big "rescue" scene Ricky and Sylvia flee from Gertie in a 67-68 model Ford Mustang, a blatant error considering the movie is set in 1965.
• Ellen Page was the only choice to play Sylvia Likens.
• Movie Goof (continuity error): (At 42:00) When Gertrude Baniszewski burns Sylvia Likens with a cigarette on the top of her hand, Sylvia screams (flash to outside) the view from the outside of the house shows a fan in the front window of the house then, Sylvia screams again and the next view from outside the house there is no fan in the window.
