• Movie Goof (anachronisms): Night time shots clearly show streets lit with high pressure sodium lamps that give a warm red/orange glow. These were not introduced until the mid 1980's.
• Movie Goof (continuity error): When the federal agents are leaving the office, after warning Richie Roberts he has a contract out for him, one agent puts his hat on and is seen putting it on again after a cutaway shot back to Richie.
• Movie Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Richie Roberts is asking Joey to omit certain details when child protective service interviews him. Joey says, "When you asked me to be godfather of your son, I took that responsibility very serious". Ritchie wears a star of David on his necklace - the Jewish religion doesn't have godparents.
• The car driven by Richie Roberts is a Volkswagen 1600 Variant (Type 3). There was a dual-carbureted, air-cooled engine installed underneath the rear trunk.
